5.     Click on ‘Reinstall OS X’ from the Recovery menu.

6.     Click on ‘Continue.’

7. Now, go through the on-screen instruction to reinstall OS X on your MacBook Pro.

8.     Choose Hard disk on which you want to install OS X.


When you have successfully applied the steps, your MacBook Pro will be formatted, and the new OS X will be installed.

How to erase the drive and install a fresh version of OS X

1.     Power on ‘MacBook Pro’. And listen for the startup sound.

2.     Press and hold ‘Command + R’ keys of your keyboard immediately after hearing the startup sound.

3. Release the ‘Command + R’ keys, when the Apple logo appears on the screen. And you will be prompted to select an internet connection type.

4.     Select an option to connect the MacBook with the internet. Your MacBook should be connected to the internet to reinstall OS X. when you connected with internet recovery menu will appear on your screen.

5.     Select ‘Disk Utility’ from the recovery menu.

6.     Click ‘Continue.’

7.     Select the startup disk from the left pane of Disk Utility and then click on ‘Erase’ tab. (default startup disk name is ‘Macintosh HD OS X’)

8.     Click on the Format’s drop-down menu and select ‘Mac OS Extended (Journaled).’

9.     Enter a name for your disk.

10.  And, click on ‘Erase’ button.

11.  Close the disk utility window, from ‘Disk Utility’ tab in the upper right corner.

12.   Now, click on ‘Reinstall OS X’ from the recovery menu.

13.   Click ‘Continue’ and go through the on-screen instructions to reinstall OS X.

When completed, your MacBook Pro will be formatted, and a fresh OS X will be installed.
